In a earlier Corbett’s Corner blog American by Birth, Republican by Choice (click HERE to read this blog), I listed the core beliefs of Republicans. There is a sharp contrast between these beliefs and those of Independents and Democrats. With the Democrats, the difference is similar to light and darkness, just the opposite of Republicans. With Independents, there is no knowledge of what they believe. However, in all cases the beliefs form political policies and the direction of our country, state, counties and towns. That is why I believe the parties must be listed, even in municipal elections.
Recently, I was delighted when Muriel Tardif placed into my hands a book entitled, What Conservatives Believe. The author mirrored what I wrote, and what he wrote is worth repeating. If you have these beliefs and are an Independent or a Democrat, then you need to join the Republicans. If you do not hold these beliefs and you are a Republican, than you are a RINO (Republican in Name Only) and need to repent.
These ideas are what Conservatives believe:
- Conservatives believe our rights come from God.
- Conservatives believe in the right to life.
- Conservatives believe in limited government and the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of the United States.
- Conservatives believe in law, order and a secure border.
- Conservatives believe in economic freedom and free-markets.
- Conservatives believe taxes must be low, simple and fair.
- Conservatives believe the national debt is a crisis and threatens our economy and national security.
- Conservatives believe in federalism and the indispensable role of the States.
- Conservatives believe parents must be the primary educators of their children and support school choice and patriotic education.
- Conservatives believe all men are created equal.
- Conservatives believe the traditional family is the fundamental building block of society.
- Conservatives believe in peace through strength.
- Conservatives believe in standing with our allies and standing up to our enemies.
- Conservatives believe Israel is our most cherished ally.
- Conservatives believe in character, civility and statesmanship.
- Conservatives believe that with faith in God and the American people, we can forge a boundless future of freedom.
